Newtown, PA

The borough of Newtown has an especially rich history. Consider, for example, this story: William Penn once proclaimed Philadelphia his “great town.” And it's believed that when he was traveling north in 1682, Penn came upon a group of trees that bordered a creek flowing to the Delaware River and declared that this area would be his “new town.” The town features architectural styles from each of its respective periods. The Historic District, for instance, was established in 1969, enlarged in 1976 and again in 1985. When visiting Newtown, be sure to stop by the Half Moon Inn Museum and go on the Historic Walking Tour.
